Steve McQueen Accepts Award for Best Picture

As the first black director to win best picture, Steve McQueen was overwhelmed with excitement and emotion. A previous Turner Prize winner, the British director could barely hold his acceptance speech straight as he accepted the award.

His film, 12 Years a Slave, was an Oscar favorite and showed the American film industry the power that British run films still have.
